FAQ

Q: What warranty do OrcaTorch lights come with?

A: All OrcaTorch products are covered by a 1-year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. It can be extended by another year after registration on https://www.orcatorchstore.com/pages/product-registration

Please note that the extended warranty doesn't apply to accessories.

Q: Are OrcaTorch lights suitable for both recreational and technical diving?

A: Yes, OrcaTorch lights are designed for a wide range of diving activities, from recreational night dives to advanced technical and cave diving

Q: What depth are OrcaTorch dive lights rated to?

A: Most models are waterproof up to 150 meters (492 ft).

Q: How long does the battery last?

A: Battery life varies by model and brightness setting. For example, the D710 can run up to 7 hours 40 minutes on low mode. High output modes will have shorter runtimes.

Q: Can I use rechargeable batteries?

A: Yes! OrcaTorch models come with rechargeable batteries and USB charging options. Use only the original Orcatorch batteries for safety and optimal performance.

Q: Are OrcaTorch lights good for underwater photography/video?

A: Yes, video lights like the D910V or D710V MKII offer wide beam angles and high lumens for clear, even illumination.

Q: How should I store my dive light?

A: After each dive, rinse your light thoroughly with fresh water. If you plan to store it for an extended period, remove the battery and keep the light in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing it in humid environments—if the light is not fully sealed, moisture can enter and cause internal corrosion.

A: Standard delivery usually takes up to 3–7 business days depending on your location. Expedited options are available at checkout.

Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: At this time, we do not ship outside of Canada.

What is the difference between a primary, backup, and video light?

Q: What is the difference between a primary, backup, and video light?

  • Primary: Your main, most powerful light, typically with a focused beam. The OrcaTorch D710 is a perfect example.
  • Backup: A smaller, compact light for safety in case your primary fails. OrcaTorch D530 is a popular, reliable backup.
  • Video/Photo: A light with a very wide, even beam for filming and photography. Check out the OrcaTorch D910V for a professional-grade video light.

Q: What are lumens, and how many do I need?

Lumens (lm) measure total brightness. A simple guide: 800–1500 for recreational day dives, 1500+ for night dives, and 2000+ with a wide beam for video.

Candela (cd) measures light intensity at the brightest point of the beam, which affects how far the light reaches. Narrow beams have higher candela and farther reach. Wide beams have lower candela but spread light more evenly.

Think of it this way: Lumens = how much light, Candela = how far it goes.

Q: Do you offer spare parts (O-rings, batteries, chargers)?

A: Yes, we stock common replacement parts and accessories—available in the “Accessories” section of our store.
